HISTORY OF FORBES ISLAND
Forbes Island is a floating island and event space near Bradford Island, California, United States. It was formerly a restaurant, located between Pier 39 and Pier 41 in Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco. It was the only “floating island” restaurant in the Bay Area. The restaurant was inspired by Captain Nemo’s marine dwelling. The restaurant closed in 2017, and the floating platform was moved to the Holland Riverside Marina in Brentwood, California.
In 2023, the floating island reopened as an event space; it is now permanently moored next to private land on Bradford Island, not far from Antioch, California.

Location
It is best to consider Forbes Island as a small, managed gathering space for your group’s special gathering: birthday, wedding, party, retreat, or reunion. Due to its location on Bradford Island (an actual island with no bridge), groups should expect to commit to the location during the length of stay – this is also what makes Forbes Island a private and unique experience.
Arrival
Forbes Island requires passage via the Bradford Island car ferry (see schedule below), a personal watercraft, or a captained passenger ferry boat that must be booked in advance. Boat dock space is included.
